ON THE ROAD IN OUR NEW VAN

    11th September, 2014

We’ve been doing the rounds of the caravan sales yards for over a year now – not really looking for anything special but felt it was time to upgrade to a new caravan.  In August we spotted a caravan that we felt was just made for us and ‘hey presto’ – we now have a new home to tow.  Meet our new Crusader ‘Excalibur’ caravan.

The inside length is 19’6” – 3 feet longer than our old van.  It has a full ensuite at the rear of the van which explains the extra length.

It is a completely different layout to our old van so it is going to take us a while to get used to where things are.  It does have more storage areas at the front of the van so Wok is having a ‘head scratching’ time trying to work out the best place to put stuff.

After many months we were finally ready to get under way and made our way out the front gate onto the road.

We looked back to see ‘Ranger’ standing all by himself in the middle of the driveway.
Oh no - they really are leaving .....
Our van had been like a second home to ‘Ranger’ and when the family was at work or school he could be found asleep on our bed.  He looked really sad as he watched us disappear down the road.
By late afternoon we were pulling into the caravan park at Iluka and not long after setting up on site a local came for a visit.

All went well on our first trip with the new van and it looks like we are okay to continue our travels.  We took a walk beside the river and along with the pelicans watched the sun set.   Very restful ....
